Intended Audience High School Seniors in 2026-2027

Event Description

The 7TH GEN.® Summer Program is a unique 8-week summer semester where High School seniors jumpstart their post-secondary journeys with 12 tuition-free college credits through our partnership with Black Hills State University and gain valuable work experience through a paid internship at Crazy Horse Memorial. They also experience fun field trips to sites in the surrounding Black Hills area and participate in hands-on cultural workshops. Our academic advisors assist each student with their post-secondary planning i.e. FAFSA, scholarship hunting, housing application, class registration, etc. Interested students may access more information and the online application through our website link.

Tech Theatre Camp

Event Description

This technical theatre camp is a crash course in behind-the-scenes work. Students will work side by side with Spotlight Theatre Company's technical theatre staff and will spend the week learning the tricks of the trade from concept and design to painting and construction. Students will put their new skills to work on the technical aspects of our full-length Broadway musical theatre camp show. If students are also available July 13-18, they are invited to join us on the tech crew for rehearsals and performances of our summer musical. Ages 12-18 June 22-26 | 9am - 12pm

Explore different engineering and science degrees during this 4-day camp. Each day students will get a mini presentation on two different STEM fields with hands on activities. Each session is presented by prestigious faculty whose expertise gives campers a glimpse into STEM careers and gets them excited about their education. On Thursday afternoon parents join us on campus to learn more about what their campers experienced and an optional campus tour.

This camp will allow students to explore the basics of electronics and how a few simple elements can be used to generate amazingly diverse arrangements of tones, beats and effects. We will take you from the basic skills of soldering and programming to constructing your own music generating machines. Each student will take home an electronic instrument they build. No background in electronics or music is required.

Native American Nursing Education Center Pre-Nursing Summit

Intended Audience Native American high school students—those entering grades nine-12 and beyond in the fall

Event Description

Considering a career in nursing? The Native American Nursing Education Center holds the Nursing Oíčhimani, a prenursing summit, in Rapid City. The summit is open to Native American high school students — those entering grades nine-12 and beyond in the fall. It features sessions focused on nursing care, the science behind many medical activities and even a tour of an ambulance and a Flight for Life helicopter. There will be opportunities for hands-on experiences and to hear from professionals in the field. Sessions will be led by South Dakota State University College of Nursing faculty, Black Hills State University Science faculty and medical professionals from the Black Hills.

Health Professions Career Camp

Intended Audience 2027 and 2028 high school graduates with an interest in healthcare who are looking to exploring career options.

Event Description

If you’re interested in a career that will give you the chance to help others, consider working in a health-related field! You can explore the wide array of opportunities available in this field at SDSU’s Health Professions Career Camp. Students will be able to interact with health care professionals and participate in a variety of activities, such as: -Demonstrations and information provided for many areas including nursing, pharmacy, preprofessional programs, human nutrition, exercise science, biology, microbiology, medical laboratory science, health care systems engineering and more. -Visits to local health care facilities and specialty clinics, which may include a tour of their facilities. -Question-and-answer panel sessions with a range of health care professionals. The camp is best suited for students entering their senior year of high school the fall after attending the camp. However, the camp is also open to students who will enter their junior year of high school in the fall semester. Financial assistance is available for those with demonstrated need.
