Intended Audience High School Seniors in 2026-2027

Event Description

The 7TH GEN.® Summer Program is a unique 8-week summer semester where High School seniors jumpstart their post-secondary journeys with 12 tuition-free college credits through our partnership with Black Hills State University and gain valuable work experience through a paid internship at Crazy Horse Memorial. They also experience fun field trips to sites in the surrounding Black Hills area and participate in hands-on cultural workshops. Our academic advisors assist each student with their post-secondary planning i.e. FAFSA, scholarship hunting, housing application, class registration, etc. Interested students may access more information and the online application through our website link.

Health Professions Career Camp

Intended Audience 2027 and 2028 high school graduates with an interest in healthcare who are looking to exploring career options.

Event Description

If you’re interested in a career that will give you the chance to help others, consider working in a health-related field! You can explore the wide array of opportunities available in this field at SDSU’s Health Professions Career Camp. Students will be able to interact with health care professionals and participate in a variety of activities, such as: -Demonstrations and information provided for many areas including nursing, pharmacy, preprofessional programs, human nutrition, exercise science, biology, microbiology, medical laboratory science, health care systems engineering and more. -Visits to local health care facilities and specialty clinics, which may include a tour of their facilities. -Question-and-answer panel sessions with a range of health care professionals. The camp is best suited for students entering their senior year of high school the fall after attending the camp. However, the camp is also open to students who will enter their junior year of high school in the fall semester. Financial assistance is available for those with demonstrated need.

Discover Our Camp Program

Our residential Jr. State Camp is a 4-day, 3-night overnight camp at Lake Byron, open to anyone interested in agriculture, cooperatives, Farmers Union, and leadership—no farming background required. All you need is curiosity about South Dakota’s leading industry.

Program highlights include:

  • A 4-day, 3-night overnight camp experience

  • Making friends from across the state

  • Learning from agriculture leaders

  • Tours of agricultural and cooperative facilities

The University of South Dakota School of Education offers a week-long summer program for gifted and high achieving students entering grades 6th-9th in the fall of 2026 who want to expand their strengths and make lifelong friends. We believe each child is gifted in a unique way, and we welcome anyone who is eager to challenge themselves and build upon their talents. The South Dakota Governor’s Camp is focused on STEAM education. Students who successfully complete 9 rigorous educational sessions will be eligible to receive a STEAM medal and will be recognized at the closing ceremony. In addition to our STEAM class offerings, we have many sessions that will match your unique interests and talents. You'll get a taste of college life, eating with friends in the dining hall and living in USD dorms. You'll hear from inspiring speakers, and you will engage in a variety of team building and recreational activities. You'll go beyond the classroom and take hands-on courses in the subjects that interest you. Previous classes have included: Robotics Intro to Guitar Bird Banding Veterinary Dissection Visual Art 3D Printing And many more! SDSU Data Science Camp

Intended Audience Students who will be high school freshmen through seniors in Fall 2026.

Event Description

Students will be introduced to Data Science concepts. They will learn some basic statistics and coding (using R). They will do some fun activities and their goal will be to complete a project where they will analyze some data and present their findings. They will learn to use AI as a coding assistant. Families are responsible for travel arrangements to get students to the Brookings campus Monday July 27th at 9am. Students will stay on campus and sleep in the residence halls. Parents are invited to watch students present their projects on Thursday afternoon. The camp will conclude around 3pm on July 30th. Students will have fun activities on campus. This includes climbing the Campanile, visiting McCrory Gardens, eating SDSU ice cream, and climbing the rock wall at the Wellness Center.
