Math Pathways

Math is most rewarding when students take courses aligned with their career interests. Our Math Pathways advising tools recommend courses students should take to prepare for various occupations.

What are math pathways?

Every college student, regardless of their major, must complete at least one math course to earn a degree. And for some majors, one math course is all you need.

Our Math Pathways align career interests with high school course options by recommending the math classes students should take to prepare for success in college math and careers. These pathways help students be strategic by:

  1. Suggesting four years of high school math.
  2. Helping to qualify for the South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship.
  3. Recommending High School Dual Credit, when possible.

Students should consult their school counselor or college admissions representative to finalize their math plan since some colleges have specific requirements outside of the typical recommendations.
