Work-based learning (WBL) connects your students with real businesses where they can explore careers, build hands-on skills, and gain valuable industry experience. As an educator, you play a key role in guiding students through these opportunities by helping them connect classroom learning with real-world applications. WBL helps students grow their confidence, discover career paths, and prepare for life after graduation, whether they are headed to college, a career, or both. It also builds strong partnerships between schools and local industries, supporting the development of tomorrow’s workforce, your students.
Career Ready SDThe South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation (DLR) offers FREE support to educators looking to bring career-connected learning into the classroom. This statewide initiative is designed to strengthen partnerships between schools and employers—making it easier for you to integrate real-world experiences into your students’ education.
Educators are encouraged to connect with the Education and Industry Integration Coordinator at DLR. This dedicated liaison will work directly with you to weave work-based learning into your lessons.
