High School Dual Credit Gateway Certificates

High school students can now take the first steps toward rewarding careers at a fraction of the price. Designed for those with specific career interests, Gateway Certificates give students a taste of the profession along with a credential on their undergraduate transcript to prove it.

These certificate programs include both discipline-specific and general education courses, meaning the student won’t be overcommitted if they decide they aren’t sold on the career after all. Their earned credits will still support other degree requirements, eventually saving them time and money toward their degree, no matter what career path they choose.

A Meaningful Approach to Career Exploration

Gateway Certificates

The Gateway Certificates consist of 3-4 courses that can be taken by high school students through the High School Dual Credit (HSDC) program. The certificate is made of up courses geared toward a specific career pathway (i.e., education, engineering, agriculture, business, etc.) as well as relevant general education courses. Upon completion, the certificate credential will appear on the students South Dakota Board of Regents (SDBOR) transcript. The Gateway Certificates are geared toward students in the HSDC program but are open to all SDBOR students.
