LATC Junior Tech Day

Event Description

Junior Tech Day is a fun-filled, information-packed day that will help high school juniors jump-start their decision process and provide direction for their future. Students find out what a day in the life of a Lake Area Tech student is like by meeting instructors and current students, working in the labs, doing hands-on activities, and meeting new friends. Career exploration is the focus. Visitors then eat a free lunch and absorb some basic information on the admissions process, applying for financial aid and scholarships, locating housing, and more! Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.

Yellow and Blue Discovery Day is a free Saturday event designed to give students a closer look at an academic program they are interested in while learning more about South Dakota State. This program is ideal for high school juniors exploring their academic options and seniors finalizing their college plans. We are hosting two Yellow and Blue events this spring, each focusing on different academic colleges at SDSU. Not sure what college an academic program falls under? Look for your academic program of interest in the drop-down menu after selecting one of our two program dates below, check out our colleges' departments and schools, or visit our find majors and careers page. Your Discovery Day Schedule 8:45-9 a.m. Check in 9-9:45 a.m. General Session: Discover SDSU Learn more about becoming a Jackrabbit, our application process, paying for college, living on campus, involvement opportunities and more. 10-11:30 a.m. Academic Experiences Go in depth with department faculty as they show you academic facilities, classrooms, labs or projects specific to their areas. Each experience will vary based on the major. 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Campus Tours Explore SDSU's campus and visit a residence hall with one of our current student ambassadors. 12:30-1:30 p.m. Lunch (provided)

Lake Area Technical College and TechKnowledge are proud to announce TK Discovery Day for high school students in grades 10-12 interested in learning more about attending the TechKnowledge Program at LATC to become a John Deere Diesel Technician at Kibble Equipment. You’ll be in the classroom learning theory with the TK Instructors and then in the shop with the current TK Students as they work on Job Sheets. You will be paired up with a student for the morning classes and then have an opportunity to meet with the LATC Admission Team to learn more about LATC.
