This scholarship was established in 2000 in memory of Jeremy Baum, who died July 25, 1999, by suicide. He was 20 years old. It remains a mystery why he chose to end his life, but through this scholarship, his family hopes to keep his dream of rising above adversity alive.

Established by Lennard Stenholtz, this scholarship honors the life of his son, James. James Stenholtz was a junior at Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, SD with interests in hunting, fishing, wrestling and football when he tragically passed away due to a rare form of meningitis in 1971. This scholarship is how Lennard and Margaret Stenholtz decided to celebrate the life of James and how much he meant to their family.

Sigrid and Kristian believed strongly in the value of higher education, and they worked hard to provide their sons with the opportunity to pursue college degrees. Sigrid and Kristian’s example made them sensitive to the financial strain students and their families often face in providing for college educations. They enjoyed participating in activities together whether it be school, church or community.
