Established by Lennard Stenholtz, this scholarship honors the life of his son, James. James Stenholtz was a junior at Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, SD with interests in hunting, fishing, wrestling and football when he tragically passed away due to a rare form of meningitis in 1971. This scholarship is how Lennard and Margaret Stenholtz decided to celebrate the life of James and how much he meant to their family.

They enjoyed participating in activities together whether it be school, church or community. After their graduation from Canton High School in Canton, SD in 1999, the two remained friends until they died in a tragic car accident on their way home to Canton.
