The Inez Taylor Walter Scholarship was established by Harley Taylor in memory of his sister, Inez Walter who was from the Ipswich area. The scholarship is for high school students in South Dakota. Preference in awarding this scholarship will be given to a student planning on attending a South Dakota or North Dakota college or university in the field of nursing.

Students graduating from a public high school in 3 years or less are eligible for a one-time scholarship of $1,500 to be distributed equally across both the Fall and Spring semesters during their first year of post-secondary enrollment. The SD Opportunity scholarship provides funding to South Dakota students who attend an eligible higher education institution in South Dakota and meet certain academic requirements. All students must complete the SD Opportunity Scholarship Application to receive funding. Scholarship deadline is September 1, 2024, for those students seeking initial eligibility planning to enroll in postsecondary for the first time in the Fall 2024. Students can apply on the SD Board of Regents Online Scholarship Portal.
