The Folds of Honor Scholarship provides educational assistance to the families of those who have made extraordinary sacrifices for our country and communities. Administered by the nonprofit organization Folds of Honor, the scholarship helps offset the cost of education for eligible students pursuing Kâ12 private education, college degrees, technical or trade programs, and other approved postsecondary pathways. The program honors service and sacrifice by supporting educational opportunity.
Eligibility:
- Must be a spouse or dependent child of:
- A U.S. military service member who has been killed or permanently disabled while serving in the line of duty, or
- A first responder (including law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics) who has been killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty.

The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) manages more than 350 scholarships, connecting students with the generosity of our donors. Each scholarship has its own eligibility criteria and deadline.
To apply, students should visit SDCommunityFoundation.org/Scholarships.
On the SDCF Scholarships tab, they should create a username and password on the For Students link. They will then complete a common application, which identifies the scholarships available for their high school. The system automatically matches students to potential scholarships, and students can review these matches to confirm their eligibility before applying.

South Dakota Cattlewomen (SDCW) is dedicated to promoting the beef industry in South Dakota. SDCW will award two â $1,000 scholarships to a young person attending or planning to attend an institution of higher learning in the upcoming semester.
This scholarship can be used at any accredited university, 2 year or 4-year college or technical school.

The Lawrence Novotny Scholarship Essay Competition has chosen to provide scholarships to high school seniors who are heading to college and current college or trade school students. Students of any field of study can apply and are available to those who will attend or are already enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school in the state of South Dakota. One high school senior will be awarded a cash scholarship of $250 and one currently enrolled college student will be awarded a cash scholarship of $500. To apply, applicants must complete a packet of information which will include a completed essay on the following topic: Why is teaching 2SLGBTQ+ history in school important.

The Sanford Health Military and Veteran Scholarship is awarded to any veteran, Guard/Reserve, or active duty military service member who has demonstrated exceptional character and leadership in furthering their own progress and in enriching the lives of others, especially in service, academics, and community involvement. Scholarship will open 6/27/2024.

The Day County Coyote Hunt Scholarship Program has been established to award scholarships to immediate family (based on IRS Family Definition) of a current or former SD National Guard soldier & desire to further their education. Applicants must be 19 years of age or younger. You must be a graduating senior from an accredited high school during the year of application. This scholarship may also be granted to a family member of a SD National Guard soldier who is physically challenged as determined by the American Disabilities Act passed on July 25, 1990. Funds are granted through Day County Coyote Hunt. The number and value of scholarships awarded each year will be determined by the Day County Coyote Hunt Executive Committee. Only winners will be notified, and arrangement will be made for payment.
