CHS Scholarship

The CHS Scholarship at Mitchell Technical College provides financial assistance to both incoming and current students (1st and 2nd year students) pursuing agricultural-related degrees.

 

Eligibility:

  • Must complete the Mitchell Tech scholarship application
  • Must be enrolled in either the Precision Ag Technology, Animal Science, Ag Business, or Agronomy programs

Otter Tail Power Company Scholarship

Otter Tail Power Company provides Mitchell Technical College students scholarship opportunities and is an excellent industry partner for the institution providing valuable information and guidance for their programs.

 

Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled full time in the Powerline Construction & Maintenance, Electrical Construction & Substation or Wind Turbine Technology program
  • Must maintain a GPA 2.0 or higher
  • Must complete the MTC Foundation Online scholarship application
  • Must be from an Otter Tail Power Company Service Area

Northwestern Energy Scholarship

Northwestern Energy has been an active supporter of Mitchell Technical College through donations of scholarship funds and equipment since 2003. These scholarships are awarded to full-time students enrolled in energy related programs who maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

 

Eligibility:

  • Applicants can be first- or second-year students currently enrolled full-time in the following programs: Electrical Construction and Maintenance Power Line Construction and Maintenance SCADA Wind Turbine Technology – 2 year Natural Gas Technology
  • Applicant must complete the MTC online application and submit references if required during the open application periods as instructed to be eligible for this scholarship
  • Applicant must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above

Spaans Legacy Scholarship

The Spaans Legacy Scholarship at Mitchell Technical College is awarded to students within the Animal Science, Ag Business, and Agronomy programs.

 

Eligibility:

  • Must be an Incoming Student
  • Must be enrolled full time in Animal Science, Ag Business or Agronomy
  • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Must complete the online MTC scholarship application

Xcel Energy Scholarship

Xcel Energy began offering scholarships to students in energy related programs since 2002. Xcel is a longtime supporter of Mitchell Technical College energy programs and has provided much needed equipment and curriculum support over the years. The scholarships are awarded to full-time students enrolled in energy related programs.

 

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be first- or second-year students currently enrolled full-time in the following programs: Power Line Electrical Utilities and Substation Automation Controls/SCADA Wind Turbine Technology
  • Applicant must complete the MTC Current Student online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for this scholarship.

Women for Success @Tech Scholarship

The Women for Success at Tech Scholarship is a dedicated award established by the Women for Success at Tech group at Mitchell Technical College. This scholarship aims to support and empower female students who are pursuing their education and career goals at Mitchell Tech. Created by women who are committed to fostering success and leadership among female students, this scholarship recognizes academic potential, perseverance, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. It is awarded annually to one or more outstanding female students who demonstrate a strong work ethic, leadership qualities, and a dedication to making a positive impact in their chosen field. This scholarship is more than just financial aid—it’s a show of support from a community of women who believe in the power of education and in the potential of every female student to achieve success.

2025 Premier Equipment Scholarship

The Premier Equipment CNC Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship available to manufacturing and engineering students (or any student interested in pursuing a career in CNC machining or CNC programming). The Premier Equipment scholarship will help students reach their academic goals and train the next generation of engineers, CNC machinists and CNC programmers.

 

Eligibility:

The Premier Equipment scholarship is looking to award a student currently in engineering or manufacturing with a $2,000 Scholarship. Application will include a personal essay as to why you deserve this scholarship.

Gateway Scholarship

The Gateway Scholarship at Mitchell Technical College is a financial award designed to give recipients with no manufacturing background the ability to start a career.

 

Eligibility:

  • Awardees will attend MTC on a full ride to pursue an AAS Degree in Automation Controls/SCADA. Housing and an on-campus meal plan are included.
  • Upon successful completion of the two-year program, recipients will have a job with empirical as a Systems Technician.
  • A signed, two-year work agreement is required.

SD Farmers Union Foundation Scholarship

South Dakota Farmers Union annually gives recognition to young people who commit to a South Dakota college, university or technical institute, and whose parents are current members of Farmers Union.

Farmers Union starts investing in youth at age 5 and that investment is never ending as they progress through their education. We are excited for our youth as they transition into the next chapter and are thankful to continue our support for their future. Three $500 scholarships are awarded each year to deserving students.

 

Eligibility:

  • Current member of South Dakota Farmers Union.
  • Senior in high school planning to attend or a current freshman at a SD post-secondary institution.
  • Completed application (paper or online submission) must be received by 8 a.m. on November 14, 2025.
  • Any late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed
  • Applicants can only win once, past winners are not eligible

Agricultural Graduate School Scholarship

The Agricultural Graduate School Scholarship, sponsored by Travelers Motor Club, is designed to help retain talent in South Dakota to support South Dakota’s agriculture industry.

 

Eligibility:

  • It is open to students from South Dakota, pursuing a graduate degree in research, animal science, agriculture business or agriculture education at an accredited South Dakota school.
  • Eligible graduate students include on-campus and distance education students who are pursuing any master’s or doctoral program, agriculture teacher certification program (CERT/FCSC) or graduate certificate program (GCERT).
