The Dakota Corps Scholarship was created to keep young people in South Dakota by giving students financial access to outstanding postsecondary education and encouraging them to remain in South Dakota post-graduation.
Among other requirements – Eligible students must have a 27 ACT and plan to pursue one of the established critical need areas.

The SDDOT is offering a scholarship opportunity of up to $8,000 per year (with a maximum of $16,000) to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors who attend an ABET-accredited university and maintain a 2.5 GPA. The Lawrence Novotny Scholarship Essay Competition has chosen to provide scholarships to high school seniors who are heading to college and current college or trade school students. Students of any field of study can apply and are available to those who will attend or are already enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school in the state of South Dakota. One high school senior will be awarded a cash scholarship of $250 and one currently enrolled college student will be awarded a cash scholarship of $500.
