The Elementary Teacher STEM Initiative is designed to provide participants with a 3- credit hour graduate level course. The course will explore opportunities supporting 2 - 5 grade classroom teachers while integrating Science, Math, Technology, and Engineering practices. Teacher participants will practice the STEM curriculum to align the SD Science and Mathematics standards and develop competency and critical thinking approach as students engage in learning. What
Experience integrated STEM activities for grades 2 – 5.
Coursework
Use your curriculum, the SD standards, the Science & Engineering Standards, and the Standards for Mathematical Practice to create activities for your classroom.
Participant Support
Participate in a professional learning community that supports you during the academic year when you are implementing these activities. Share your experiences with colleagues in other districts to learn from each other. Follow-up sessions will be held on Zoom during the school year.
Cost
Participants earn up to two graduate credits with a reduced tuition rate. Room and board provided on campus during the workshop.
